The subject line in the header is DS9, and the only TV show referred
to lately has been DS9, so that's probably what he's talking about.
He's saying "surprised", and a major DS9 surprise spoiler was put on
the list.  Some people objected to the spoiler info being posted, and
then Raven (you) apologied multiple times for the gaffe.  I therefore
deduce "It" refers to the spoiler, and "our statement" was an
objection to it.
