Hmmm...  I never thought of it as a chivalric/whatever you want to call
it thing...  For me it's completely Zen.  I don't own a car.  My lady
has that job.  I do long (1000+ mile each way) road trips to get back in
tune with myself.  Meditation at 75 miles an hour.

Just my opinion...
