if you think it's confusing now, just wait .. soon, if you have a humble appliance like a
toaster, you'll probably have internet access.

got to play with a new device that the scribes and artisans who shift between pen &
paper and computer would enjoy .. the CrossPad. it's a capture device that uses a
regular 8x10 note pad and a special RF/ink pen. use standard ink to write & draw,
when the pad is turned on, it captures the pens strokes as digital "ink". later, you link
it into the computer and download (via serial connection) the notes, drawings, doodles,
etc .... comes with a "ink to text" program, but like all similar ones i've played with it
can't read my uncial-italic script.

nice unit, seems to have decent resoultion, not to bulky, rated at being able to hold 50
pages data (one full pad) works in un-tethered mode (pad requires standard AA
batteries), seems to have decent battery life. pen fits well in hand (at least mine),
feedback ls fairly good on the paper. downside, pen uses a AAAA battery than can be
hard to find (i order them for my other digital pad from Radio Shack). checked the web
page and sounds like a nice line of accessories in the offering (a nice leather cover
would be ideal)

to power the digital cell phone - that in turn link into the notebook as a cellular modem
(rolling web site anyone ...grin)
