I do not want to see this can of worms opened again.  It surfaces
every few years, gets a lot of discussion and then it is decided that
it would be too difficult and unpopular to make the change.  If we had
the chance to start again, we could do many things better, but the
peerage is far to entrenched to allow such a change at this time.

The only possibility would be close the three peerage orders and open
a new peerage order with three branches.  But then you would have to
come up with titles for the new peerage order, and at that moment you
would start to have problems.

Many SCA Knights are going to have a hard time accepting non-fighters
with the title of "Sir."  Just as their medieval counterparts would
not have accepted it, and for the same reasons.

For all its faults, the present system works, and has worked for over
30 years.  Talk as much as you want, but remember it ain't gonna
happen.  There are other medieval recreation groups who have done
things differently, but they are either SCA offshoots, or at least
have the SCA as an example to build on.
