I just have to comment on something. I've read most of the replies
already, but ...

Joel Schumacher said something that sounded like:

These are anonymous to most of us. Knowing what environment formed your
opinions helps us know who you are and how to address them.

I figure this is enough to get the gest of the rest.

My gods this is like looking in a mirror. I just recently (last 2 or so
years) went through all of this. I only recently got over it.

There comes a stage in your SCA life that you realize all that is wrong
and evil about the SCA and the people in it. The fact is that isn't not
the SCA, but the people. If you had the same people in another setting,
they'd still be the same way. Are they concentrated in the SCA? I don't
think so.

You just want to go back to how it was when you first started. When it
seemed everything was ideal and it was fun at every event you went to.
You didn't dread going to an event because of the politics that would be
played out. You think that the Peers should be recertified to see if
they are still a Peer. (Hell, I didn't care aobut their skills, just
their on-going behaviour/educating.) Etc.

This was me.

You want the good news? About 3-6 months go, I finally got past this
state in my SCA growth and everything is grand again. Despite the
problems, I have fun. I no longer dread going to events. I no longer
care about the politics being trivial or stupid. What I care about is
making the SCA what *I* want from it and working towards that goal. I do
try to correct bad behaviour or wrongness, but it no longer gets to my
soul nor eats at my stomache.

I have a feeling that my stint through this part of my growth was
prolonged due to this list (despite the fact I love it, you guys can be
a pain at times *grin*), being part-time entourage for the Crown, and
a recent change in the Baronial seat. All of these things kept dragging
it out a little longer.

I hope that you are able to get through this part of your growth within
the Society and get to the part where you enjoy it for the things you
do and not the things that others do wrong.

In Service,
