Uhh. I didn't see anyone doing this. No one included more than one line
of the original SPAM. If on the other hand, you want to discuss proper
editing of replies, that has been hashed out over and over again here to
no avail most of the time.

Maybe it as on a different list than the Ansteorran list that this
phenomenon showed up for you.

In most cases, it is not their purpose to waste people's time and/or
webspace. It is actually mass marketing, which unfortunately works. It
may only get 1% or less of the people, but when you consider the shear
volume of people that are concataced via this style of mailing, it
certainly pays off for them.
