thanks .. had the first, but not the last two ...
about 15 years back attempted a yurt with less than spectacular results ...
the lathing used for walls got wet, warped and the whole thing turned into a
mess. have always wanted to try again ...
on next attempt, wanted to come up with a "neo-yurt" using some modern
materials and creative design to modify them to better suits a southern
clime (ie: primary focus keeping heat out ....)
to improve on last structural problems ... was considering getting a table
saw and ripping the lathing to my specifications from some of the new
"engineered lumber" (recycled material bound with resins under heat and
pressure ... considering using variations of it as decking around the house
in the planned remodel) ... stuff is waterproof, dense, dosn't splinter, easily
worked, dimensionally stable, would be a least as stable as the pine 1x2's
that most seem to use. not sure, but think it comes in 1x2 stock ...
downside more expensive, but less likely to need replacement over time
