speaking of tent poles ... anyone have any good leads on sources 
(preferrably in austin / bryn gwlad area) of long runs of dimensional ash 
lumber that can be ripped down and worked into poles / spear hafts (for real 
weapons) ... also, any crafters out there have any suggestions for other 
woods as a replacement that would have the same long grain (for strength 
and flexibility) as ash
