that's a variant (go-moku ???) ... go starts with same stones and same
board, but it's focus is ultimate control of territory by controlling points (line
intersections) ... there' a beauty and flow to the play that's easy to lose
oneself into. recorded origins were in china (probably via india) and
imported into japan where it became a favorite of the samurai caste
