negative / exclusionary comments focused on "un popular" individuals or
sub-groups that are engineered to isolate, denigrate, dishonour, ... when
repeated long enough they become "acceptable", in time they take hold
and grow into the "norm". this is a hydra that is exceedingly difficult to kill
when grown ...

from observation, i've seen that many good people and sub-groups tire of
continaully defending against ongoing verbal attacks and "retire" into
silence and lower levels of "play". unfortunately, this only validates the
process. what i advise is for these people to spaek up when they feel
slighted by word or action (quite appropraite for the early celtic and norse
persona's that were mentioned in earlier parts of this thread ...). if more
people would do so, then perhaps the perceptions of the otherside of the
coin might shift back to a more balanced point.

not at all new issue - find a good Rialto archive and you will note that it is a
long thread that has appeared again and again over the years... or hunt out
the *many* that were driven out of the SCA or bailed out of disgust with the
politic's that became the norm.

this is not "PC" issue, but on of basic respect and tolerance for all
pathways ... in all cases, stand up for yourself, your belief's, your group
against all who would tear you down or subvert you to their interpretation of
what *should* be.
