ANST - Texas Renaissance Festival

Greetings all,

In case you hadn't heard, the Fair was closed for the second time in its history last Sunday.   It started raining Saturday evening about the time Yoshi started preparing his wonderful oriental feast (it fed 80 or so that night) and didn't stop until Monday.   It was ankle deep in the compound Sunday morning when we arose.   The dirt road washed away in several places and was impassable in a few spots.   Several of us stayed till late Sunday afternoon making sure everyone made it out safely and everything in the buildings was out of harm's way.

Saturday was beautiful, however, and we had many attendees helping out in all demonstrations.   There was a strong showing by both the Chivalric and Rapier communities and some of the best fighting I've seen at the Fair.   The best death awards were won by Tristan for the Rapier fighters and by Kerric and Renulf for the Chivalric.

The coordinators are doing a magnificent job keeping things running smoothly and trouble free.   I have so much good help I'm left with little to do and few problems to ponder.   The participants are showing up with great spirits and fine displays of talent.   Vivat to you all!
 
This weekend will be sponsored jointly by Gate's Edge and Westgate, with Lady Annes autocrating (blaan at flash.net).   There are plenty of passes available and the weather is predicted to be absolutely beautiful, so come on out and have some fun with us while helping to bring new friends in to the SCA.   Malachi will be providing fajitas Saturday night!   The best death contest continues!
