ANST - armor standards

>There is a thread on the Rialto over shinai fighting in the SCA and I
was wondering what is Ansteorra's armor standards for shinai fighting in our 
kingdom (if we have it.)  I would assume that with the injuries that can 
result from certain strikes would one assume that the participants be 
required to conform to heavy armor standards?

I know nothing of society rules on shinai armor, but in the mundane world it 
is simular to rapier armor. It is a bit more padded and the mask is a little 
thicker. I have a simple question. Please do not take it wrong. If we use 
heavy rules on shinai, are we doing it right?
