ANST - A Question for the Performers

I cannot argue that performers are treated pourly sometimes. I have seen 
it, but in mundane I am school teacher, and whether we like it or not we 
are performers. I deal everyday with an audience that wishes to ignore 
me and I have nothing to threaten them with to make them listen. It is 
my job as a teacher to coax/trick/involve them is such a way that they 
have no choice about paying attention and do my bidding. When I am doing 
it correctly, they will get on each other if one of them steps out of 
line or disturbs what I am doing. True, I do not always succeed to this 
level and I should not have to perform in the classroom, but as a 
performer, you must either involve or capture your audience so that they 
have no choice but to pay attention.

sorry for being so late with my post. but, the performers are almost 
always treated with distain. they are conceder by some as a bother. they 
are not given the respect they deserve. i have seen singers and 
storytellers scream their piece to try and be heard to no avail. the 
audience will talk over the performance, turn their backs to them, and 
even walk thru the performance area as if it didn't matter. i think what 
the performers need is a more courteous audience. but then, that's just 
my opinion.
