Subject: ANST - Period ... tofu?

OK, this is from The Food Chronology by James Trager:

It states that Tofu came into being during the Tang period. It became a
chinese dietary staple... It was introduced into Japan in the 13th century.
It became popular with budhists since theydidn't eat meat. On another
note.. soy sauce was introduced during the Sung period in china.

Hope this helps..
