People, please! Think this through: yes, if Gulf Wars were a private, for-profit
enterprise (e.g. a hotel) we should all be talking to lawyers. But Gulf Wars is
us... the SCA, Inc. We can't take any mundane legal action against the Gulf Wars
enterprise, unless what you want is to take our membership money away from the
corporation in order to punish the stewards of Gulf Wars. Guess what? The only
people punished will be all the other groups in the SCA, who will have to figure
out how they're going to insure their next event and publish they're kingdom newsletter.

I agree that, on the face of things, we have been gipped out of our cabin space,
our money, and our plans. If this isn't reversed, there will be many of us who
won't be able to make it (either because they can't camp due to health reasons,
or can't afford to run out and drop $100 on a tent, let alone $300 on a hotel).
I would like to think that the stewards are as unhappy about this as we are. I
would be very disappointed (not to mention surprised) if they are content to
tell us, in effect, "You snooze, you loose."

If, after the dust has settled, those of us who were (dis)affected by this
policy still feel slighted, then by all means let's take it up with the people
responsible. But 1) let's give them a few days to find an acceptable solution to
this problem, and 2) let's not tear our own house down in the meantime because
we're mad at someone.

In your service,
Michael Silverhands,
Baron of Stargate
