Not being a scholar in about anything Romans except about how to make
something sharp and hard enough to penetrate their armor. I might be way
of base here. In my travels to different mundane world conflicts I
noticed that Romanian was about as close to latin as I ever wanted to
get (much closer than Italiano). It might lend some insight into the
separate development of various vulgar versions of the tongue and since
isolated populations are often found to maintain a more original form of
a root language than the parent population, Romanian might provide
insights on pronunciations closer to the latin originals.
