Come warmest greetings from Michael Silverhands, Baron of Stargate, Ansteorra:

Dear Lady, thank you for your kind and prompt response to Mistress Xene's
question concerning the dates for Gulf Wars next year. Balancing all the issues
must be enormously difficult for such a large event, that affects so many. I do
not envy you the task, and I take it for granted that it is your heart's desire
to find the most pleasing solution among the possible alternatives.

However, I must add my voice of concern to that of my noble cousin.

This year Ansteorra was shy a goodly number of her forces (my best estimate is
about 1/3) due to the dates of the war not coinciding with the great majority of
university and public school spring breaks in Texas and Oklahoma.

In a few Gulf Wars, these dates have happily coincided, and then a mighty host
was present from Ansteorra! But, sadly, in those years where the dates have not
been so favorable, our numbers have been missing most of our number who teach,
or students who find themselves in the midst of exams just before spring break.

So many of our populace are the young (and young at heart), still in one way or
another affiliated with academia. Is it not possible to make alternative
arrangements for the staffing of Gulf Wars 2000? I understand that the first
choice of staff will *themselves* be caught in this dilemma if you change the
date; but how many of those attending will be affected if you do not?

If it is staff you need, I feel confident that volunteers could be found among
the good folk of Ansteorra (and presumably Trimaris), to take up the slack from
their friends and neighbors in Meridies who could not thus attend.
