Documentation wasn't my favorite thing either.  I read a post a few days ago, 
someone was wondering why they had to do documentation on an item such as 
inkle weaving, there are tons of documentation out there on the subject, why 
have more.  First off it is a tremendous help to the judge, but more 
important it is a tremendous help to the artisan.  Learn all you can about 
your art, try and find information no one else has written about, educate 
yourself and others. Just more of my two cents.....
