Greetings all Chivalric fighters! H.E. Sir Pendaran Glamorgan bids you warm
welcome and invites one and all to come and fight in what promises to be a
grand spectacle of glory and honor at ATYC. The Twentieth Anniversary of
Ansteorra will be no ordinary event, and neither will its Chivalric
tournament be an ordinary list.

The list will be a progressive melee fought at the barrier. That's right, a
barrier melee with an unprecedented number of fighters! This promises to be
a spectacle the likes of which the Known World has never seen! Imagine the
clash of arms, the frenzy of the battle, the cheers of the crowd, and the
bravery and honor of the fighters as they struggle toe to toe over the
barrier!

As this list is to be a progressive melee, there must be great booty for the
Grand Champion to distribute to his troops. Therefore, everyone who enters
this list must present a prize as an entry fee. (Please bring appropriate
prizes, don't simply use this tournament as an excuse to get rid of
something that you don't want. Try to give something that you would
appreciate winning for yourself.) The Grand Champion will be expected to
share the accumulated booty with his troops, but there will also be a pair
of full gauntlets with brass edging that will be awarded to the victor,
which will be his to keep.


The preferred weapons at the barrier are
great swords,
glaives and
other great weapons.
Although these are the preferred and traditional weapons used at the
barrier, there will be exceptions made for single weapons and for spears for
this list. Therefore, if a fighter wishes to fight with a spear, or with
single sword, mace, ax, or whatever, he may. In such instance, legal hand
protection must be used by the fighter, but under no circumstances will
shields be allowed at the barrier.
