If I may, I would like to use this space to send a big Vivat! to a young boy
and girl who attended Steppes Warlord this past weekend. They rescued a
very scared little Boston bulldog from drowning. He was headed down the
storm drain in a rush with only his nose and eyes above water. These two
young people grabbed him out at the last minute. I never got their names or
where they were from but maybe someone will know them and pass this along.
The rescue was seen by several people in our encampment from across the water.

I later talked with them about the dog and was told that they had checked
with the First Monday people, who told them that someone left him there.
Since that time I have been told that he belonged to a SCA member who
brought him to the event without the necessary papers. The owner was told
by the autocrat to take him home or keep him in his carrier. Apparently the
owner did neither because the little dog was running around our camp for a
long time Saturday night and then was loose on Sunday morning.

Being an animal lover to the bone, I could not go away and leave him there
alone. Since he had on a rabies tag another lady said she would take him
home with her and contact the vet on Tuesday and see if she could locate the
owner. If this was not successful, she wanted to keep him herself.

So, if you lost this dog and want it back, try contacting your vet in
Garland. If you don't want him, shame on you! He was a very sweet little
dog. Either way, he was very lucky these two good kids saw his problem in
time to save him. Again, Vivats to them.

Thanks for the use of the space, sorry it was so long but I am known as a
"wordy" person anyway.
