BYZANTINE ART IN TEXAS 
December 17, 1999 - February 20, 2000

Treasures on loan from private Texas collections, plus highlights from 
The Menil Collection. An intimate, single-gallery exhibition of panel 
paintings (icons on wood), ecclesiastical objects, and ancient coins - 
selected by Menil chief curator Bertrand Davezac. Among the objects on 
display include a rare 6th-century silver plate known as a paten, and a 
7th-century bronze incense burner.
