Interestingly, as you well know, fencing was used to recreate period combat in
that first tournament.  I realize that it was simple "field expediency" and not
some mystical foreshadowing.., but it is amazing to see how far from the
mainstream has fallen "fencing" when the winner of the "first tournament" fenced
for a great many of its rounds.
