ANST - Keeping track of who has what awards

Thanks for the suggestion, Franchesca. That's a great idea!

Actually, HL Francois la Flamme (Star Principal Herald, who lives in Stargate)
and I were comparing our Palm computers at a recent Populace meeting. It occured
to us that we could:

1) load the OP.
Probably not the whole OP (it's too big!), but a regionally relevant list of the
currently active membership. This way, just before court (or at any time), the
Savvy Herald can whip out his or her pocket OP and see whether the Sable Crane
about to be awarded has already been given. (Don't laugh. There's a member of
our Barony who holds _three_ Cranes.) This _still_ won't solve the problem of
the OP being hopelessly behind the times, but maybe we can keep our local copy
reasonably up to date.

2) load _all_ the scroll texts.
Francois and I got pretty excited about this idea (there was much "nerd bonding"
with attendant whooping and "high fives"). Picture our Savvy Herald holding
court for Their Majesties. Unexpectedly, They have a member of the populace
summoned into court, then whisper to the herald: "We don't have a scroll, but We
want to give a Sable Thistle to this person. Sorry we didn't mention it sooner."
(Don't laugh. I saw this happen.) A crisis, you say? Not for the Savvy Herald!
Quick as a flash ROM, he or she whips out their pocket assortment of Scroll
Texts and announces the award, as surely and smoothly as if they had spent their
life learning them. :-)

The last time I saw Francois, he said he was working on condensing the OP into a
form that will fit on our Palm PDA's. I can hardly wait! :-)

Any other ideas?

Yours,
Michael
