I got this straight from Corpora:
"Rapier combat, not having been part of formal tournament combat in the
Middle Ages, shall not be a part of formal tournament lists for royal ranks
and armigerous titles."

Armored combat is the only way that a King and Queen can be determined.
Unless Corpora is amended (not bloody likely in this instance, IMHO), then
you can put this fear to rest.
