it still holds together quite well, and its easy to put together/take down,

The slat bed you are describing are from plans that have been available for
7
years now. From Dreaming Tree Merchants (aka HL Aldebaron the Gray). Who
developed them and entered them and the bed in several A&S competitions. Sir
William the Bear has 2 of them, Othar has 1, Mu has 2. Ask them about the
bed
and how easy it transports.
