ANST - Encouraging archery

There has been quite a discussion here on archery and how
the numbers may be going down.
Like other activities, the interest in archery probably
goes up and down in cycles. I know this is the case in
my barony. Years ago, we had an archery-oriented event
called the Southaven Archery Tournament or somesuch here
in Bryn Gwlad. I remember shooting a variety of different
shoots. It was a good event, but afterwards interest in
archery declined.
One of the nice things about this event was the variety
of different shoots that were held. Personally, I think
that IKAC can get rather boring and repetitious and it
is not a period style. Various other shoots are more
period and I think can be used to increase the interest
in archery such as wand shoots, clout shoots, animal
shoots and so forth. Unfortunately, I missed the Southern
Regional event. The string shoot there sounded interesting.
I'd love to hear more about how that shoot went.
Anyway, perhaps these files in the ARCHERY and ARCHERY-FAQ
sections of my Florilegium might be useful for ideas to
encourage more archery in this kingdom:
