Greetings unto the populace from Gerald of Leesville.

This year, I am serving as deputy liason for the SCA activities at the Texas
Rennaisance Festival.

With the permission of the autocrat there will be a TRF planning meeting at
Crown Tourney.  Time and meeting place will be posted at Troll.

For six weekends in October and November, the SCA holds a demo at TRF.
Groups are encouraged to "sponsor" a weekend, which is usually treated as if
it were an event.  The requirements for sponsorship are to provide people
interested in free admission to the Festival in exchange for three hours of
"work" per day.  Work consists of fighting (both chivalric and rapier) on
the mound, water-bearing, or demonstrating an art/science for three hours,
crowd marshalling, etc.

The SCA has a large compound area within the TRF site, with an armory
available for armor/weapon storage.  A gatehouse provides shade for those
who work the information booth and a stage is provided for performing
artists.  There is ample area within the compound for fighters to practice
as well as craftspeople to demonstrate their arts as well as room outside
the compound for dancing with live music usually provided.
