Greetings unto Plachoya Sobaka, Southern Reagional Archery Marshal
>From Sir Emrys Shaunnon, Baron of Bjornsborg

With your permission, I would like to comment upon your missive
posted on our Kingdom's web site. You stated - "Interesting when I
sugested using it for a southern reagional war practis I
was told Lyonesse was gone but the date was still reserved, guess it
maters who wants the date."

Not long ago, I wrote to you about your suggestions for the creation
of a Southern Regional war practice and in that letter, I expressed my
support for your ideas. Once more, I restate my support. However, in
that previous letter I felt compelled to correct an impression that
since Bjornsborg would no longer be sponsoring a Lyonesse tourney, that
our reserved date on the Kingdom calendar was somehow now vacant and
that a Southern Regional war practice could fill the slot.

Our Barony is and will always be very proud of Lyonesse and the
immense effort we have put into the tourney for the enjoyment of all in
the Kingdom. With Lyonesse so associated with Mistress Mari, and with
the transition to new landed nobility, it was felt by the populace that
this Lyonesse would be our last. Also, after hosting this event for
many years, the populace had expressed a desire for change and the
chance to create a new "signature" event.

Previously, you wondered that if Lyonesse were no more, would the
first weekend of March then be available as a possible date for a
Southern Regional war practice? To this I replied that the first
weekend of March was reserved in Kingdom Law for our Barony. Just
because Lyonesse was gone, did not mean that we would not be creating
another event or forfeit our date on the Kingdom Calendar. Since that
first letter to you, we have been discussing ideas and concepts for a
new signature event and this process is ongoing.

Recently, Brianna and I, were asked by Their Majesties, if the
Barony would consider moving our "protected" date on the Kingdom
Calendar, allowing Crown Tourney to be fought prior to Gulf Wars and
also allowing Their Royal Heirs to be in attendance. The Crown
graciously explained their reasoning for making this request, to which
we replied that we would bring their words/proposal before the populace
for consideration.

The proposal to move our protected date has been discussed within
our membership for the past two months. Not long ago, a vote was taken
and the vast majority agreed to meet the Crown's request. Their
Majesties were informed of our decision. Simultaneously, we have been
discussing proposals for a new "protected" calendar date and the
opportunities now afforded our Barony.

At last weekend's Crown Tourney the changes concerning March's Crown
Tourney and the new date it will be held were read into Kingdom Law.
Know too, that we, the Baron and Baroness, and speaking for our
populace, wish to express that Bjornsborg was willing and happy to meet
the request of the Crown. We also look forward to a new date on the
Kingdom Calendar and a new signature event for Bjornsborg.

In closing, I will once more restate my support for the idea of a
Southern Regional war practice and it is my belief that opportunities
for creating this event are achievable.

    Sincerely,
    Sir Emrys Shaunnon
    Baron of Bjornsborg
