That may have been the way it was when we became a Kingdom but times have
changed...I don't think Sir Jehan, Sir Rhodri, or the others see it that
way...

We get our Kingdom newsletter paid most of the time, we get an umbrella
organization that is known World Wide, we get an insurance policy that
allows us to use sites and the insurance is at a rate that is MUCH cheaper
than if we had to purchase it event by event or Kingdom by Kingdom, we get
the ability to go to anywhere there is an SCA event and know that certian
general rules apply...

More people does not necessisarily mean more fun...I have found that small
intimate events are often more fun because you have time to get to know
people and not just pass them in the crowd...

In Raven's Fort we had a $4 site fee for many years and people still used
the excuse that they couldn't afford the site fee and so didn't come to the
event...It doesn't matter how low you go for a site fee people do things
they value...and if people want to go they will...if they don't want to go
they will find excuses...

Yeah Dux!!!!
You have to be part of the "System" (tm) to change it...
The Board did not loose when people voted by not renewing or asking that
their membership be cancelled...the people who did it lost...
I wish in many ways that we could go back to the way it was when I
entered...when all you really needed was your honour...but our society is
part of the larger one and unfortuately we need to have CYA rules to in part
counter those who don't care about this organization continuing and who
don't take responsibility for themselves or their families....
