>Dear Gunthar
>I thought you were one of those people who believes that the SCA is just
>a cocktail party in costume. I got the idea that you look down on us
>people who wanted to roleplay. I believe people would not mind paying a
>little more or even being paid up members if we were offering the Magical
>World of Pagentry. Unfortunely the show is pretty poor right now. Oh sure
>there are more period tents but the people are all sitting around talking
>about their jobs or cars or computors or whose doing what to whom. The
>most beautiful set in the world doesn't make up for bad acting.
>Willow not in persona Taylor

and Petruccio responds: some snippage...

You know your Grace, I realize that this subject is a hot topic for you, but
I find this a little on the rude side.

Especially since Gunthar just got off donating 6 months of his life to
this organization, and is someone I've seen working at each event he's
been at.

And Larissa write:

Ditto.

Our main privilige and responsibility as Peers of the realm are to promote
the ideals of chivalry and courtesy. I don't always "play persona" at an
event, in fact, I have been playing "larissa" half of my life, and alot of
the game has become a topic of conversation at events or even mundane
happenings as many of my friends, family, and interests surround this
community.

I dont discuss the latest sci fi movie or book at an event, but I might tell
a friend about my child's school play. Frankly, if we dont spend a good
deal of time at an event being our real selves, we cant make real friends!

Even as the Crown, one has the right to relax a bit. In court I never broke
persona, but sitting under a pavillion with my ladies listening to others
entertain us, not always in persona are some of my best memories.

And poor Gunthar! Wrong guy to pick on in my book! That gentleman travels
to the 4 corners of Ansteorra because he feels it is his knightly duty. He
is an active peer and is visible throughout the Kingdom.

He doesnt get financial aid as a traveling Count, but he does get the
satisfaction of knowing the peoople in the Kingdom where he lives, and
having their respect as a Peer of the realm who cared enough to come to
their event, no matter how large or small, and that is alot in my book.

Your post really upset me. :(
