never went in for the spiked buckler (targe) thing ... was speaking
more from perspective of aggressive "rim work", pressing, pin's, and
opponent manipulation techniques that you don't much see anymore
(laws of physics ... bigger the shield, the less the user tends to
use it dynamically )... basically using shield as lever to get in and
behind.  had great fun with V.S.Sean and and that cadre at the clann
practices.  was interesting watching the early armour transitions at
this point as they began to evolve in response to the field  ... many
i know/knew decided that against shields, that hockey gloves were
bad, metal was good, along with early experimentations with shield
baskets (self included ... fell apart, but was an attempt)

especially liked some of the unique shield-centric "war feats"
(similar to those in the old irish tale) that some folk were know for
... like Togutai's "crab walk" - starts out "under the table"
scuttling towards you, suddenly ends up *above* you coming down
(first post-fren helm, has several major dents from that particular
tactic ...)
