ya want live? with the warming, they're moving! i'm already dodging
the vermin on the roads to the west of austin (hitting one on a
motorcycle can be unpleasant - if they don't wreck ya, they can
damage you or machine ... few years back out near bandera, we came
aropund and turn on a steep downhill, and riding partner shattered
his windscreen when one jumped straight up in front of him (they're
very near sighted, when startled they leap straight up - right at
grill height, hence reason so many litter the roads) and then it
careened towards me, glanced my knee and leaving me well bruised and
limping for a week(makes a good case for armour when riding).

as for chinatown, it's a *wonderful* place to simply wander around,
looking at things, finding treasures, sampling delicacies ... you'll
find lot's of "mystery meat" labeled in chinese (g). and at it's
periphery two must-see's when in town - the "City Light's" bookstore
(especially for the modern lit / poetry crowd) and "The Stinking
Rose" (garlic / garlic / garlic) .. at the other end, the waterfront
with it's seafood stands and the ever present sourdough bread (not to
mention some nice old ships to wander through) ... makes me think
perhaps it's time for a west coast run (and would like to see a
friend and notable from ansteorras past again ... the infamous Sir
"Balthi" ( he's down the coast a bit in San Lou Obispo (sp?)....hmmm,
maybe can convince V.Sir S. on wisdom of another road-trip this
spring (g).
