read for metaphor and allagory ...

"moat scum" is a wonderful substance ... rich in possibilty but
chaotic, sometimes volatile, and unformed by nature.  all it takes is
a jolt of energy, be it lightning, directed thought/will, or a
carelessly dropped "meme" to form the core of something that may grow
and evolve over time into a viable entity (ever watch what happens
when you drop a seed crystal into a super-saturated solution?  pure
beauty - form and order from chaos).  

now we have a new life form that will seek out a niche in it's
ecosystem, displacing the less viable as it grows, and may well move
to the top of the food chain (from the savana, to the trees, and
onward to the moon)...

a lesson from this thread ... beware the meme's that you plant lest
they evolve.  

corollary, what you choose to disgard/scape off your boots today may
well be knocking at your door tomorrow, and it could be hungry.

so it's good practice to make "moat scum" your friend very early on
...
