put yourself in the origional persons shoes ...

would you willingly hang around when you were made so unwelcome
because you made a unintentional social mistake based on a SCA
problem (the mis-understanding about nature of information and
publication)? people don't enjoy being dog-piled when they are
learning a new culture and make simple mistakes, and it is
unfortunate that this is one of the apsects that the SCA is so well
known for.

i've always found it interesting that a organization that supposidly
holds dear the concepts of honor and chivalry, can so easily treat
the neophytes so badly. folks, the culture of the "period" did rest
on the shoulders of the serf class, but they are NOT part of the
equation in this recreation, though that's often how the neophytes
are treated. any wonder that so many don't enter or stay around?

you don't welcome people with gasoline and torches and expect a
positive image be transferred outside your culture.

> ... Why don't we just let this die down and end the bad feelings?

then like so many other things it's all simply swept back under the
rug and over the years becomes part of the accepted way of doing
things. better to drag such things out into the light of day, admit
they are problems, and seek to address them in a positive manner.

else you erect walls against outside migration in and start driving
those inside away. pretty soon without that influx of new blood your
organization stagnates and starts into decline and eventual oblivion.
