a note from the messenger ....
i don't belive john reads the ansteora list (the messages are forewarded along
for the several of our friends who still do ... and the new ones who seem to be
enjoying it).
if you wish to respond to his questions (please do) send them to him direct
(note his "mailto" in the message header below) and not as a normal default
"reply-to-list". if any should accidently end up in the list i'll pass them
along.
i've been forwarding the kudo's and comments i receive about the column to him,
would be nice for those to send them to him direct ... authors ask for so
little (g)

... one plus of the musings to date, we've found a couple of long lost cynn
(and made a few new ones) from those lurking out in the shadows. who knows,
maybe we can rebuild the old trade routes in the near future and get the
intellectual and social commerce flowing again.

Subject: Musings -- Important Questions (Please Forward & Respond)
To all to whom these presents may come, Greeting!
I know that I personally send these Musings out to about 20 people.
They say they are forwarding them to others. That cheers me. When I ask
some folks whom I think are reading them what they thought of a
particular one, mostly I have been getting "Oh, I haven't read that one
yet; I am just filing them." That is valid but a little discouraging.
So this email.
Questions:
1. Are you getting this as a direct mail? If not, who is sending it to
you?
2. Are you reading the Musings or just filing or discarding them?
3. If you are reading them, which one is your favorite? Any reason why?
4. Are you forwarding these to anyone else? How many folks?
One of my thoughts about this is that my agent might want to try to put
these in syndication with papers. A nice touch for that is to let
papers know how many readers this already has.
So, as I say in the Subject: please answer these 4 questions, forward
them on to your Musings forward list, and hopefully I will get enough
encouragement to continue writing these. Believe me, they do take work.
Thank you in advance for your readership and your replies. Introduce
yourself. Let me know in what era you are interested, what blows your
tabard up, whatever. Any ideas for this column making its writer some
shekels?
