For those who may not have heard yet, Lord Maurice van Rijn suffered a hang
gliding accident while he and his lady, Mistress Edwina Dirks Sterne, were
visiting in Meridies for a wedding. In a forty-foot plunge, he sustained a
compression injury to his spinal column on Thursday and underwent a
four-hour surgery Saturday afternoon. Rods and screws were inserted; a
piece of bone was transplanted from his hip. Although the surgery went
well, the outcome remains uncertain, as we must wait and see how the spinal
injury heals. Still, Maurice stands a good chance of complete recovery.

Edwina is staying with SCA friends in Huntsville, Alabama, where the
accident occurred. It is not known how long they will be there; it may be
some time before he can be moved closer to home (they live outside Kansas
City, Missouri now.) Naturally, this is creating additional complications
in their lives. However, George the Dog is also present, and is providing
what comfort he can.

Lord Maurice and Mistress Edwina were long-time residents of Ansteorra, and
this remains the home of their hearts. I cannot post a way to reach them at
this time, but your good thoughts for them can only help. I will post
updated information on Lord Maurice's condition as it becomes available.

Your servant,

Mistress Teleri ferch Pawl
