Greetings All,

"And now, a timely reminder.........."

Anyone intending to come to Lyonesse? And fight? If so, have you sent in
your letter of intent?

Now, a letter of intent is not *required* for participation in the
tournament; but it is polite. It lets us know who to expect and figure out
which field you might be happiest on. BUT, should you wish to compete for
the Championship of Lyonesse, a letter of intent is required.

It's possible some of you are wondering what this means exactly. You could
be asking yourself some questions, like.... "If I don't send a letter of
intent, can I still fight?" Yes you can. "If I don't send a letter of
intent and I distinguish myself in combat and comportment, can I be named a
Defender of Lyonesse?" Yes, you can. "If I don't send a letter of intent,
and I completely outdo myself as I have never done before, and perform such
deeds and courtesies that all will speak of til the end of time, and am
obviously the best of the best at Lyonesse, can I be named the Champion?"
Nope, you can't. And that would be a shame.

A few other commonly asked questions are: "Do I have to sponsored by a Lady
(as in AoA-holding female." No, just a regular female lady, no AoA
required. "Is there still time to get my letter in?" Is the SCA built
upon a firm foundation of procrastination? Of course! I have taken
letters of intent mere moments before the procession began, tho I REALLY
prefer not to. It just skews things up.

Letters of intent do not have to be fancy. No need for illumination,
calligraphy, etc. I merely need your name, return address and the name of
your sponsor (and her return address if different.)

Oh and there is a small benefit. If you send in your letter of intent in
time, I'll send you back a Lyonesse newsletter, packed with information
about fighting, comportment, and other things that can help you out at
Lyonesse.

Thanks for your time, good people!

You may now return to your regularly scheduled program.........

Mari
(speaking for the Lady Lyonesse, of course)
