The most effective method of recruitment I have seen or practiced is called
the "Shanghai".

You simply find a naive person walking along the street, get them drunk and
bang them over the head.  When they come to you have them over a hot bed of
coals and you simply prod them with a red hot brand until they agree to pay
their dues.

100% affective!
