[Ansteorra] Some info on the moderation...

Good Morning,

  Due to a recent message on the topic that caused the moderation that
  was raised on the Ansteorra list, I had to make a decision on a post
  by Countess Sara. Because of this I asked for Earl Barn and Countess
  Kat's feedback on the issue.

  The concern I had was that everyone did not know the background of
  the case and who was involved, so I was concerned with messages that
  named Earl Barn or gave enough information to determine who the
  individual named in the court case was. While the information was
  posted on the Rialto and on some more localized lists, I wasn't sure
  if they should be posted to the Kingdom at large.

  After thinking it over and from Earl Barn's message, I have decided to
  allow *some* messages through that normally would not have. These
  messages still must not walk the line of being libelous nor malignant.

  With Earl Barn's permission I am including his response to myself on
  the topic in general.

Greetings Pug, administrator of the Ansteorran list,

Thank you for your discretion in handling this matter.  I appreciate your
willingness to place yourself in the line of fire to protect the Kingdom,
however, I have never hidden anything about my past and I don't plan
to start now.  Toward that end, I have no objection to you opening the
list to posts on this subject.  If you choose to do so, please forward
this post as well.

Perhaps if people are allowed to talk here and get it out of their
system they will have done with it.  I've already lost years of my
life, my children and rights most people take for granted because of an
accusation and the time I served for it.  There is, to put it simply,
nothing *anyone* can say or do to hurt me more than I've already been
hurt.  The fact is, I can only be who I am, perfect or not.  While I
would prefer for people to judge me based on who I am and what I've done
in the SCA (not on circumstances that occurred outside the SCA 20 years
ago) I can't make them do that.  I'm not even going to suggest they try.

Since all of this began I have tried very hard not to get involved,
make accusations or assign sinister motives.  I don't plan to start now.
What I would like to do is thank everyone who has called or written to me
in the past week.  Your offers of support, friendship and encouragement
are much appreciated.  You are what this dream is about and I am honored
to call all of you my friends.
