Not really, it would require that Corporate totally redo the distribution
of the membership moneys. Corporate is aware of the problems the Kingdoms
are facing and is looking at a number of potential solutions. One that I
personally favor is unbundling the membership from the newsletters. This
would entail only one class of member (instead of the three we have now)
and making the Kingdom newsletter, TI, and all other publications
subscription based.
Example (these are not official numbers)
Membership $20
Kingdom Newsletter $12
TI $8
CA $8
In this example a person could be a member and get the Kingdom newsletter
but not CA or TI for $32 yearly. Instead of requiring an officer to be a
subscribing member or family member they would be required to be a member
and someone at the address must also receive the Kingdom newsletter.
As I indicated these numbers are not official, they are from my memories of
discussions at the BOD meeting in Houston last year. I know that the BOD
is working on making sure that this or any other proposal is realistic and
would not hurt the SCA overall. I would recommend that anyone with
suggestions or comments on the cost of membership and how the money is
distributed, write the Board with your ideas and comments. I know the
often times the Board would really like to get more input from the populace
but they can't make you write them.
