We might as well switch to nerf spears. The groin is a legal target. I have
never, nor will I ever target the "cup", but I will not criticize anyone
that does, and accidents do happen. I do not know what the "standard" cup
is in the rest of the world, but the one I wear, and the only way I have
ever seen them sold is with the suspension system described as the new
requirement. I do know that some fighters just take the plastic cup part of
the supporter, stick it in their pants and call it good. When I inspect
fighters I ask, "are your wearing the required groin protection?" This is a
full contact sport, and we are all aware of the risk, so if a fighter goes
out without proper groin protection, then he must not place a high priority
on reproduction. Armor inspection happens at the beginning of the war or
event. Honor and chivalry dictates that the fighter maintains the approved
level of protection after the fighter is inspected. If I had to go thru
this "cup check", I would have to remove my tunic, kidney belt, and leg
harness to get to the back of my supporter so the marshal could pull on it.
Then I would have to find the privy to adjust everything back to where it
belongs. If this is adopted, I will be cheering on the sidelines during the
ravine battle. As a Knight Marshall, I have no intention of putting my
hands in the pants of any fighter, nor will I allow any marshal to do the
same to me.

Since the camp is in California, I am putting her in contact with the West

can from so far away.

John Peregrine won Heavy, Ian MacConacher won Youth Rapier, and Daniel
"Oh my Gosh I forgot his last name" won Adult Rapier. I'm a List Babe,
not a Herald. :) :) Sorry, Daniel!!

Wonder twin powers activate!! OK twin, tell everyone his name!

Duchess Deborah was a wonder to behold and stories about her shall fill
the evenings for many moons to come. :)

A fabulous time was had by all. All three List Babes had a grand and
glorious time and we look forward to our next event with great glee.
(My cheeks still hurt form all that laughing!)

Thank you to the entirety of Emerald Keep for inviting us to your
beautiful event last year, for inviting us back again this year, and for
committing yourselves to having us back yet again next year.

WE LOVE YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (was that _too_
emphatic?)

I make my own.. and live steel ready means that I have made some for a gent
who fights live steel (as in bare blades...)... even though it is mostly
coriagraphed accidents do
happen and he feels safer. A hauberk i sold him has taken quite a bit of
abuse but is still being worn and yet has had to be repaired.

Subject: [Ansteorra] Gulf Wars update
Reply-To: ansteorra at ansteorra.org

When it rains, it pours. Unrelated to the sweeping changes, which are being
promoted by the BOD, there will be several
event specific armor and marshalling revisions at Gulf Wars next year.
Though most items are still being hashed out,
there is one requirement, which looks like it will definitely be there next
year.

In the ravine battle, there were a series of holds for various injuries. One
of the most wide spread complaints was the
number of excessively hard cup shots. However, after numerous interviews of
spearmen on both sides it appears that the
power levels were in the normal range. Further investigation revealed that
while standing on the steeply sloped ravine
sides, the standard cup supporter allows this important piece of armor to
become shifted to one side. This condition can
happen without the wearer noticing and causes their reproductive organs to
be at extreme risk of being struck painfully
or even damaged. To alleviate this risk, the Meridian marshallate will now
require a three point suspension for the
bottom of all athletic cup supporters. This will require modifying the
standard male cup supporter with a third elastic
strap running snugly from the bottom of the cup area to the center back of
the waistband. The marshals will verify that
this modification has been made by a single sharp tug to the back waistband
of the athletic cup supporter. This
modification will only be required next year for the ravine battle, but it
is planned to expand this to all battles in
following years.

  Regards,
  Duke Jean Richard Malcolmson, KSCA

In 2000 there were 254,000 people at the race. 204,000 is just the stands.
The rest of the people either camp in the race infield, or do not actually
attend the big one, they just camp at the campground and take in the
atmosphere.

It is not that I want to scare anyone away. I just want to make sure that
their excellencies, and their excellencies to be's friends have good
information to base their plans on. It took 2 hours to get to the track

Lady Siobhan,

Could I trouble you to clarify one thing for me?

 > SCA coming from the north should exit I35 at Denton and go east to 377
and
South to 114 and west to just before I35 where you may enter a road to the
site on the left.

This means that 114 West should be slow but okay for those of us coming from
the north and east, yes?

In confusion,

Elysia
