To me there isn't anything inherently "unfun" about using the correct
historical names for these vital and important jobs. However, the usage of
terms such as troll and generic-ocrat does carry with it a feeling that many
find comforting and even amusing. The creation and usage of these terms is
a valuable part of our ~recent~ history as a Society rather than the
historical period we recreate, and the terms carry with them a certain
familiar and folksy charm to many of us. Personally, I prefer the 'live and
let live' philosophy, and will try not to use these terms in your presence
if I know that you find them offensive.

In return, I appreciate it when those more authenticity focused individuals
don't go out of their way to correct me if they overhear me using "SCA
folkspeak" with a fellow sympathizer.

^^Please note that I have not been personally corrected in this manner, nor
have I seen others treated this way, and also note that any and all uses of
"you" in the preceding are the universal and generic "you" and are
specifically NOT directed at Amerinda :-)
