[Ansteorra] troll vs. gate

In response to the following post; I'd like to point out that :
"An "Anachronism" is something that is out of its proper time frame. The
Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA) is a non-profit educational
organization devoted to the study of pre-seventeenth century Western
Culture. It concentrates on the European Middle Ages, Renaissance, and
members work to recreate the arts and skills of this era. Some members
study the Middle East and explore the interaction between Europe and Asia
during the period under study." (copied right from a SCA web page
(http://www.ansteorra.org/regnum/hospitaler/articles/fip.htm)

So, if your culture would have asked for information and given money to
trolls, used terms like autocrats and feastocrats we all should respect
that. People like me from 14th century Poland would have had interactions
with head cooks and gate keepers. They do not seem "unromantic and dull"
but normal and quite proper. However, ask me to go and give money to a
troll, I'd wonder if a physician needed to be called for you; asking my to
find a mythical character from some far off land a long time ago.

I wasn't around when the SCA was founded, but in the last eight years I
have seen it evolve and I hope it always grows. As people do more
research and share it with others we are all bettered by it. I am sure
that early on a lot of what was done was to the best of their knowledge and
probably at least in part based on Hollywood. I have seen scrolls done
years ago in magic marker rather than the beautifully painted scrolls of
today.

Another quote from the web page "Courteous and honorable behavior is at the
core of the Society. It is difficult to be too polite. "
NO ONE should be yelling or belittling anyone. I hope that this will help
remind people that courtesy is more important than language.

Sincerely,
Seraphina

>I firmly believe this is an '"anachronistic" society....not an

>GATE, don't you.....trolls don't exist!"
