Let's see if I have this straight.

We have:
        A.  Jerks who claim to like Authenticity, but use that as an
            excuse to attack other people. (small number)
        B.  People who like authenticity, but are tarred with the same
            brush as group A. (larger number)
        C.  People who like history, but may not care about
            authenticity.  (large number)
        D.  People who aren't interested in authenticity, and may not
      even be interested in history. (large number)
        E.  Jerks who aren't interested in authenticity or history,
    but use that as an excuse to attack other people. (small
            number)

        a.  People who prefer the historical terms for things wherever
            possible.
        b.  People who don't care
        c.  People who prefer the traditional SCA terms for things.

        1.  People who like "fun"
        2.  People who don't like "fun"
        3.  People who don't like YOUR having "fun"
        4.  People whose interpretation of "fun" is different from
            yours.

        1)  People who like playing persona.
        2)  People who don't like playing persona.
        3)  People who don't like YOUR playing persona.
        4)  People whose interpretation of playing persona is
            different from yours.
        5)  People who are intimidated by Pendaran

        1/  People who think that playing persona is the same as
            authenticity.
        2/  People who think that playing persona is the same as
            the traditional SCA culture.
        3/  People who think that it's a mix of the two.

You know, I'm not seeing a lot of place for compromise here (mostly because
there are so many overlaps and interminglings of what people believe) beyond
the simple one of just being polite to others and letting them play the game
they want to play, even if it's not the game you prefer.
