I don't think it is a affectation of having rank...I've seen many persons
full of themselves at at any rank...the ones of the higher rankings
are more noticable because of their high status...and so people hold them
to different standards...

I've seen many fighting Peers chase down people who are struggling with
burdens or helping ladies and children as well as their fighting cohorts...
I can't count the times I've seen Sir Gideon, Sir Guy, Jarl Timotheous,
His Highness Patrick Michael, Sir Kief, Sir Karl, Count Simeon, Sir Pendaren
Sir Rhodri and others behave in ways that are the utmost of courtesy and
chivalry...I've also seen them at times they were not....they're human
have moods, problems, and get tired like the rest of the human race...

For your infomation, part of what all the Peerage Circles look for in a
candidate is their awareness that the focus of that Peerage is not
all there is to the SCA...

The bottom line is...

If we want curteous behaviour to be the standard then each one of us
must become the example no matter what the rank....
