[Ansteorra] SCA slang

And it is just this topic that has created so many schisms in the past:
Avalonians, Tu-Chuck, Mongols, etc. Each kingdom seems to have had their own
schism or splintering at one time or another, for the central region it was the
Avalonians.

Some just want to come out and fight (Jocks). But some have the personality and
presence that you would want to be around then, and it in turn inspires you to
your own ends. And weather they are in a suit or smelly armor, you know they
are a knight. And that Honor and Chivalry never die.

Some just want to dress up/down and party (Ren-ies). But some have the
personality and leadership that makes you want to follow them and to 'Work Hard
--- Play Hard'. They hold the best feasts, throw wild parties, protect the
common good, and find the things you thought were only rumored. They inspire
you to be the best that you can be, to 'Live Hard --- Live Well'. It takes a
certain type of person to become a Pelican.

Some just want to faithfully re-create a portion of the past down to the last
stitch and bobble (OOP Natzies). But they can take the mundane and make it
something special. They can reproduce art and song that rivals the masters and
take you back in time with a whisper. They can produce items with the simplest
tools that would make the Amish call him brother. And in turn, they inspire you
that nothing is impossible and that our fore-fathers knew a whole lot more than
we ever give them credit for. They send you on the quest that 'You live and
Learn --- Or you don't live long.' It takes a certain type of person to be a
Laurel.

In each of these groups, there are the few fanatics that just make things worse
for all. Even the people that fall in between, who have been around the SCA for
a while and still look completely cluel-ess. But that is just people in
general; some have their stuff together and some never will.

In fact, if I remember right, the Handbook also covers each of these groups as
well. But as stated, most people fall somewhere in between. And it is that
gift, that strength that keeps the SCA growing and going. It takes all of these
people to keep things running and a living 'Dream' or 'Game'.

And as for the 'Terminology', someone is always going to be offended. It is the
way of the world.

And when the lists have all been fought, you have to choose as for where your
game goes from there. Are you the types of person that wishes to listen to song
and story, and for a moment know that you are in another time and place? Are
you the type of person who lives for the friendship of others (weather in their
Nike-ies or 13c. finery)? Or are you the type of person who is cleaning up the
mess before running off to somewhere else?

But such is life.
