I think what it boils down to is this: we do not set an effective lower
limit on authenticity. Some organizations do, at least in terms of
outward appearances. So do you choose our worst examples or
our best as your point of reference?

Let me ask this another way: is there more knowledge about the
middle ages in the world than there would be if the SCA did not
exist? I think so.

Now if you want to discuss how annoying you find cookie cutter T-
tunics and blue nylon tents, that is a very different question than
whether we serve any educational purpose.
