i think that it's page 42 of the known world handbook.  Authenticity mavins vs
fun mavins.  The core of the article is that each of them has a place in the
SCA, and as long as we try not intrude on each other's way of playing, all is
well and right in our realm.  The gist is this, if in some way a stick jock
enhances the game for those around him, has he not furthered the dream?  He
will use his area of interest to enhance the game.  I don't do courtly dance,
but i don't knock those who do.  Much of the dream is interpreted in our own
mind, and our own dream of what we call the SCA.
  For what it's worth, there are many fighters out there who will just as
readily discuss chivalry and honor as they will fighting.  I think that the
bottom line in everyone's dream is chivalry and honor.  Even for those of us
who aren't so good at it.
