That is an easy one for my persona. I would be enriching myself
with,"The Koran", during the day. And at night I would read that wonderful
instuctional book from India. The one I hide deep in my saddle bags. Has
something to do with Karma. Then if time allows, I would indulge in reading
notebooks on navigation and astronomy. Two subjects where the arabic world
excells. Which is an interesting catch 22. The Arab world learned to
navigate, from living in the trackless desert. The stars being your only
guide. But , when it comes the sea. The boats are far from durable, in
fact they are quite flimsy. The arabic world had a major lack of metal to
spare for nails. So the boats were sewn together. Little off subject, but
something I wanted to share. Thats why when, "Little Brother" ,goes
seafaring he calls upon his ,Norse comrads, for passage. Other than that,
very few literary options avalible in the middle east around 1180.

Most of our time is spent running up and down the mediterranean coast,
fighting off Crusaders. Such is the life as a horse archer in Saladins
  army.
