The one irrefutable argument I can see for smaller groups holding their own
events is to help attract more local interest, and by extension, members.
How many of us were drawn to the SCA by attending those events as another's
guest - or even more, by observing an event and stopping to ask?

While it does create the problem of travel and the occasional conflict of
events (i.e. King's Round Table and Lindenwood's Midsummer's Masque), it
could be worse - we could have NO events to attend. Or for those of us who
can only travel a limited distance, it would prevent us from attending any
unless sponsored in our own barony or one fairly close by.
